New Pandemic Alert Declared -WHO

July 20, 2009; 7:43 pm, Philippine Time; WHO Headquarters ---- The World Health Organization has declared another worldwide PANDEMIC ALERT to warn the public of the fast-spreading ACUTE VIRAL RHINOPHARYNGITIS. The said illness, Acute Viral Rhinopharyngitis, or commonly known as cold, was found out to have affected nearly the entire population of man in the world in every region of the globe. The basis of the said pandemic alert was not the disease's severity but how it has spread through different regions.

Prior to this declaration, the World Health Organization declared another pandemic alert to warn the public of the non-fatal A(H1N1) virus or what was known as the Swine Flu. The pandemic alert with regards to the A(H1N1) virus was released due to how it has spread and not because of its severity. Because of this pandemic alert, the WHO considered declaring a pandemic alert of cold throughout the world because considering the fact that cold has affected more regions than the A(H1N1) virus did.

As of the moment, the WHO's directors is studying if they should declare another pandemic alert for cough and diarrhea. If the pandemic alerts would be released for cough and diarrhea, this year, 2009, would be declared as one of the worst years in the entire medical history.
